8 Lab 8: UE Detach and Verification
Objective
The objective of this lab is to verify the detach procedure on the mobile gateways. The student will
examine the exchanged signalling messages and the mobile gateway status when a UE is detached from
the network.
Syntax
Commands required for lab section 8.1 are found in Table 13. Each command may have additional
parameters possible. Use the ? character for help and to explore all command line options. Other
commands may also be used, including those found in previous exercises.

Table 13: Lab 8.1 Commands
Exercise
1. Clear the call flow and reference point stats (s11 and s5 on the SGW, s5 and gx on the PGW).
2. The instructor will attach a UE to the network.
On the SGW, display all established bearers.

3. Two minutes after the attachment, the tester will trigger the UE detach procedure.
On the SGW, ensure that the bearer has been deleted.
SGW# show SGW# show mobile-gateway serving bearer-context

Which GTP messages are exchanged over these interfaces?
The Delete session messages are exchanged over the S11 and S5 interfaces during a UE
detach.
5. On the PGW, verify the messages sent over the gx interface.
PGW# show mobile-gateway pdn ref-point-stats gx
