Then again, the last thing he wanted to do was draw attention to himself. The police force had enough
cases to deal with without having to investigate a piss-poor job at harassment. He d handle it on his
own.
Grey s face flashed through his mind He looked around at the destruction of his
front room. Grey would let him vent, even if he didn t want to get overly involved in Mica s mess.
He glared down at his watch. It was three o clock in the morning. Grey would be
home by now, if he actually went home after his shift. Mica rubbed his eyes and ran his fingers through
his hair. He needed to talk to someone. His family would freak, even though they knew he was gay. He
didn t need to worry them. Before he could talk
himself out of it, he grabbed the directory of firefighters and dialed Grey s number.
He fidgeted as the phone rang. On the fourth ring he was about to hang up when
a sleepy, husky voice rasped, Hello?
Hi, Grey. It s Mica. I know it s late, but I really didn t know who else to call.
What happened? Grey asked. He sounded much more awake and a lot worried.

Someone threw a rock through my window. It had another note strapped to it.
Son of a bitch. Do you want me to come over? Or you can come over here, Grey
offered.
With the current threats Mica didn t exactly feel safe staying at his house. He
would prefer to be somewhere else until he calmed down and came up with a game
plan.
If you don t mind, I can come over there. I ll bring the notes.
All right, I ll text you my address. Grey then went on to ask softly, Are you
okay to drive?
Mica s heart shifted and melted. He had never met a man who was more
passionate and giving than Grey had shown himself to be. He was the kind of man who
would do anything for someone he cared about, without question. Mica really wanted
to believe he was one of those people.
Yeah, I need to cover the window. Then I ll be over. Thanks. I really appreciate
this.
You don t need to thank me. I would have been pissed if you hadn t called me.
Mica heard both the smile and mild annoyance in the statement.
Yeah, yeah. I ll be there in twenty.
 Okay, be safe, Grey said.
Mica hung up and felt a measure of relief that Grey had been there. He couldn t
suppress the fear about how attached he was to the man already. His parents had met
and married within six months. He believed love could rise up immediately. He didn t know if that was
what it was, or if he just wanted Grey.
He found a piece of plywood in his shed to cover the window and swept up the
glass. With the rest of the house secure, he grabbed his jacket and headed out the door.
The knowledge that he would soon be safe with Grey was a great relief. At the same

time he couldn t quiet the voice that whispered he needed to be careful about dragging Grey into his
mess.
Grey s house was a reflection of the man. It was a small cottage surrounded by a
wild array of plants. The words serene and peaceful came to mind. Mica parked his truck along the
street and was surprised to see that Grey stood outlined at his front door, waiting for him. Mica walked
up to him and took in the low-hanging pajama pants and
tight black T-shirt. Grey s hair was cute and messy. He had scruff on his jaw and sleepy bedroom eyes.
All that sexy focus was on Mica, and it was so potent Mica s toes curled.
Hey. Grey smiled and stepped back to usher Mica inside.
Mica wanted to lean close and breathe the other man in. He looked so warm and
inviting. Mica clenched his hands around the notes to keep from reaching out to take some of that
comfort for himself.
Do you want some coffee or tea? Grey offered.
Mica followed him through a small living room and into an open kitchen and
dining area. A large window faced the backyard and had a view of the full moon
against the night sky.
He peered at Grey s bare feet and for some odd reason found them sexy. When
had he gotten a foot fetish?
Coffee would be nice, he said when he realized he had been staring and hadn t
said a word since he d arrived at the house. He blamed it on shock. The shock of the vandalism of his
home and the shock of seeing Grey all relaxed and fuckable.
Just having Grey nearby made Mica feel better. He set the notes on the table and
sat. Grey shuffled around. The man was adorable and would probably hate to be
viewed that way. It denoted a small stature, and that definitely wasn t Grey. When the coffee was
percolating, Grey ambled over to Mica, but instead of sitting, he crouched and wrapped his arms around
him.
Grey leaned back before Mica could get over his surprise at the gesture. I m glad
you called.

Mica nearly melted from the tenderness that emanated from Grey. I m glad you
answered. Those are the notes.
Grey sat opposite Mica and picked up the notes to review them. His jaw tensed,
and he scowled. What the fuck? He peered up at Mica, eyes full of anger. Are you
any closer to figuring out who might be doing this?
Mica bit his lip. I don t know that I can cross Jefferies off the list.
Grey put the notes down and sighed. Yeah, I wish I could say he wasn t a
candidate. Anyone else?
Mica shrugged. There was a guy at the other firehouse, Darrel, who could be a
real jerk. He didn t ever come out and say anything about my sexual preference, but he made sure I
knew he didn t like or trust me. [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
